because i thought...yarn diet? doesnt mean i cant buy books about knitting! and because i spent most of my time with knitting socks i bought these 3 books:

i think i like socks from the toe up the most and will probably start my first toe up sock...soon. because i really need to shrink my sock yarn stash...somehow. there are another 10 skeins on their way, from christiane at drachenwolle, vikki at wild fire fibres and from lautaret on ravelry. :)

need to finish the upstairs shawl for my mom first. only 8 days left until her birthday and still a few repeats left. as much as i like lace knitting, the pattern got kinda boring after a while.

but my next project will be the Ishbel from Ysolda Teague, i m gonna use wollmeise 100% in schwarz for it. :)

I am in looove with lace yarn, seriously! i am currently working on my moms birthday present, the Upstairs Shawl in malabrigo lace...and my motivation to finish it is still pretty high. :Pi used up a skein, so it's at ~55% at the moment...and i am sure i'll finish it in time for her birthday in may. i don't have anymore laceweight in my stash and no sock yarn in a suitable color for another lace shawl...so i ordered the Violet Green Spring Lace Club Kit.... the Queen of Spades Shawl. i am not quite sure if i'd wear a triangular shawl...or any lace shawl....but i am sure my mom would, so all the lacey stuff that i'll knit will probably end up with her. :P

of course, i have some socks on my needles! i am currently knitting vanilla socks in merino/bamboo/silk Drachenwolle...i finished another pair out of the same yarn in london. the yarn is quite sturdy without any bounce, not my type of yarn, i wanted to knit nutkins out of it but it just didn't work out and looked quite messy with huge YO holes...so i frogged it. i cast on the leaf lace scarf....looked even worse...frogged it again. the first sock is almost finished...and i really hate knitting with this yarn. the finished socks feel nice but i will not order this stuff again.

i did catch my first Wollmeise 2 weeks ago....a skein in Ebenholz! :) yesterday i stumbled into an update again and got another 4 skeins. Herzblut, Schwarz, Honigtöpfchen and Safran. I could have ordered more but i was a bit late and couldn't check out so fast because a collegue was standing behind me..hum...i have absolutely no clue what i'm gonna do with it...i think it's too precious to knit socks with it...i am afraid that they will fall apart toooooo soon....so it will probably become some lacey stuff....okay...lots of lacey stuff.... :P

as i am not quite sure what i am gonna do with all the lovely Wollmeisen....i will not be stalking anymore and be happy with what i've got in my stash. :)

okay, been to london last week, which was quite nice, the weather was fantastic, so much better than over here! i ve been to a few museums, the snow patrol concert and i spend some time for yarn shopping! :D

i ve also been to the london stitch an bitch meeting, loads of people there but it has been quite nice and i enjoyed it. :)

of course i brought some yarn home with me to add to my stash... :P

there is also the skein of wollmeise in ebenholz that waited for me when i came home! love it, this will be knee socks!

yesterday i rumaged through my stash and i might put all my regia/opal/trekking sock yarn on ebay...i became a yarn snob somehow...and enjoy my handpainted sock yarn so much more!

it looks small? but it isnt! it worth 34 pairs of socks! :D

i might really really do a sock yarn diet now, and buy nothing except of a bit of Wild Fire Fibres and Wollmeise if i catch an update. :)

i dont think i will knit the second sock from the yellow/blue/brown yarn, they should be a present for my friend rita but i just hate the colorcombination and the feel of the online sock yarn. plus, i need to rip the red/gray socks apart, they are for anna...but will be way too big. they should fit a size 42 but they are even too big for my brother who has size 44/45...dont know what went wrong here...bleh.

stashing up

i'm stashing up yarn again, luckily this only happens in winter!

i ordered some yarn at www.wolleunddesign.de , they are closing down and all rowan is on sale for -40%, i ordered 4 skeins of cashsoft aran in black and 3 skeins of scottish tweed aran in brilliant pink. a few hours later a really nice guy gave me a call and told me there was only 1 skeins of black cashsoft left.. :(he checked the store room and the shop and now i'll get 4 skeins in burst, i'm pretty curious how this colour looks, i'm usually not a big fan of red but if it looks alright i'm gonna keep it and my mom will get a irish hiking scarf made out of it. the scottish tweed will be a pair of fingerless mitts with a flap i think, as rowan tweed is a bit too scratchy for a scarf i think. 2 skeins would have been enough, but it looks so pretty, so i had to buy 3. :P
and, i bought some 100% worsted weight merino off ebay, 4 skeins in black and this will hopefully be enough for my first sweater. :)

by the way, i hate online sock yarn. if is so thin und scratchy...bleh.
